Whether you're looking for adventure, spectacular scenery or simply a relaxing weekend surrounded by nature, here's how we'd spend the perfect weekend at Doward Park Campsite.

Friday

After arriving and settling into your pitch, there's no better way to start your weekend than with one of the area's most iconic walks.

Take our favourite route to Symonds Yat Rock, enjoying peaceful woodland trails, crossing the River Wye via the suspension bridge or hopping aboard the historic hand ferry. Along the way, stop for dinner at either The Saracens Head or Ye Old Ferrie Inn, both perfectly positioned beside the river.

Finish your walk at Symonds Yat Rock, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views over the River Wye. If you're lucky, you may even spot the famous peregrine falcons soaring above the cliffs before making your way back to the campsite. Saturday: Start your morning with a cup of our locally roasted organic Fairtrade coffee before heading out for a day on the River Wye.

Whether you're bringing your own canoe, kayak or paddleboard or hiring one from one of the excellent local providers, paddling the River Wye is one of the very best ways to experience the Wye Valley. Drift past ancient woodland, limestone cliffs and quiet riverside villages while keeping an eye out for kingfishers, herons and even mandarin ducks.

After your adventure, return to the campsite to relax amongst the trees.

If you're visiting on one of our food pop-up weekends, you might even be able to enjoy freshly prepared Japanese, Thai cuisine or wood fired pizza without leaving the campsite. Sunday: Before heading home, take a short woodland walk directly from the campsite to King Arthur's Cave.

Explore the impressive limestone cave before continuing on to Seven Sisters Viewpoint, where you'll enjoy beautiful views across the River Wye and the surrounding woodland. It's the perfect way to finish your weekend before returning to the campsite to pack up and head home. In Between...

One of the best things about staying at Doward Park is that you don't have to be constantly on the go.

Relax beneath the trees with a good book, listen to the birdsong, enjoy a coffee outside your tent or caravan while children explore the adventure playground, or simply soak up the peaceful atmosphere that makes our woodland campsite so special.
