  • What are Doward Park Campsite's Terms & Conditions, and Operating Policies?
    TERMS AND CONDITIONS We let a pitch to you with the expectation that you will follow the usual customs of good camping. We reserve the right to ask you to leave at any point of your stay if the behaviour of any member of your party is unacceptable to us and no refund of monies will be paid. Pitches are available from 2.30pm on the day your holiday commences. Latest arrival time is 7pm. (If you are unavoidably delayed on route please call with your expected arrival time). You must vacate your pitch by 10.30am on the day of departure and leave the pitch in a clean and tidy state. Pitches offered are for one tent, motor home or camper van only, plus one vehicle to be parked in the car park. The only other unit on a pitch may be a small pop up type tent for occupancy by children under 16. (This incurs an extra charge.) Pitch price includes two people, one tent and one car. There are extra charges for children under 16, pup tents, add on canopies, Gazebo’s, Event Shelters, dogs, extra adults, cars and the rental of picnic tables. We will confirm your booking indicating that a pitch has been reserved for you on the dates required. The pitch offered will be based upon the information supplied by you. All information regarding your booking can be accessed via the customer area of the website. You may request a specific pitch, BUT THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED. Sometimes pitches have to be re-allocated depending on need. Acceptance of a booking is not conditional on the allocation of a specific pitch. Bookings are not transferable in any circumstances. A non-refundable booking deposit of a minimum of £30.00 per pitch is required for 3 night bookings. 2 night bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking. For longer stays a 40% deposit is taken at the time of booking. A minimum deposit for Bank Holidays is £50. All balances are to be paid in full a minimum of 14 days prior to the start of your stay. Minimum booking 2 nights, (3 nights Bank Holiday weekends). Groups of more than three couples or three families are not permitted, if we see a group forming, you may be asked to leave and no refund of monies will be paid. We are a family friendly, quiet campsite were no excessive noise will be accepted. You must pitch as directed by the staff, and not encroach upon any other pitches and consider fire risk limitation, safety and access. If you pitch outside the boundaries of your pitch or your unit is judged to pose a risk to the safety and comfort of others you will be asked to move. Please keep noise to a minimum after 10pm, and if rising early remember others may not be such early birds. Young children can be particularly noisy, please try and strike a balance between their enjoyment and that of others. Please keep music to a low level whilst on site, and turned off after 10pm. Visitors to Campers staying at Doward Park Campsite must adhere to the following terms. NO VISITORS are permitted at Doward Park Campsite during Bank Holiday weekends. All visitors are required to sign in at reception on arrival at the campsite. We are required to know who is on the site at all times for the safety and enjoyment of all Guests. Visitors MUST park off site, and are not permitted to park beyond the entrance barrier in the on-site carpark. There is very limited parking here. Campers are not permitted to share the barrier access code with visitors. This parking is reserved for Campers staying with us only. A daily charge of £2 per person is due by all visitors to Doward Park Campsite, and is payable at reception when signing in to the site. All visitors are required to leave the site by 6pm. Any campers or their visitors who do not adhere to these conditions could be asked to leave the site with immediate effect. You must ensure children in your party are properly supervised at all times, in all areas of the park, including the play area and all amenities and when cycling around the park. If you bring a dog, this remains your responsibility at all times, must be on a lead and not left unattended. Please clean up after your dog. The speed limit is 5mph. Please drive SLOWLY. This includes bicycles and any other wheeled conveyances. Please do not drive or park on the grass, and once camping equipment is unloaded, cars must be parked in the campsite carpark. Drivers must hold a licence and have tax and MOT as appropriate. No recreational vehicles such as motorised scooters or quad bikes are allowed. Fire points are located around the site, please familiarise yourself with your nearest point. In the event of a fire, ring the fire bell and notify the camp warden (Log Cabin). Children must not play with the Fire Bells. Open fires, fire pits (including those raised off the ground), and the burning of wood/sticks on barbeques is not permitted. Bricks for barbecues to prevent grass damage, and help reduce fire risk are available from reception. The use of generators is not permitted on site. Cutting or damaging trees and other vegetation is strictly prohibited and the natural conditions are not to be disturbed. This includes tying ropes to, or driving nails into trees. Vehicle charging is not permitted from any Electric hook up points. If there is a problem or dissatisfaction with any matters under our control, please notify us immediately, so we may have the opportunity to rectify issues. We cannot accept liability in relation to any claim of whatever nature if you fail to notify us within seven days from the end of your stay with us. The contract is with Mr C Hodsman & Miss S Gardiner of Doward Park Campsite, Great Doward, Symonds Yat West, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 6BP. Doward Park Campsite will not be liable to any person visiting, for any personal injury, fatal or non-fatal unless caused by a negligent act or omission by the company or its employees. Doward Park Campsite will not be liable for any injury, loss or damage to any property including, motor vehicles and personal effects, howsoever caused or sustained. YOUR RIGHTS TO CANCEL If you wish to cancel your Booking, the following terms apply: - All deposits paid are non refundable. - If you wish to cancel your booking 14 days or more from the date of arrival, any monies paid as part or full payment for your booking may be transferred in the form of a credit to a future booking at Doward Park during the current season. - If you wish to cancel your booking with less than 14 days from the date of arrival, no refund or credit will be issued. - If you choose to end your stay early through no fault of Doward Park Campsite, no early departure refunds will be issued. -If you have tested positive for Covid-19, and are isolating, no refunds are given in this circumstance, however we can provide a copy of a receipt for your stay with us should you require this in order to receive compensation via your insurance provider. OUR RIGHTS TO CANCEL - We may exercise Our discretion and cancel the contract for Services at any time with immediate effect if you are in breach of the Doward Park Campsite Terms and Conditions. Terms and conditions for 3 for 2 offer Offer available on new bookings made for any stays occurring in 1st September to 30th September 2024 subject to availability. To avail the "3 nights for the price of 2" offer, guests must book a minimum of three consecutive nights arriving on Sunday/Monday or Tuesday. To avail the “4 nights for the price of 3” offer, guests must book a minimum of four consecutive nights arriving on Sunday or Monday. To avail the “5 nights for the price of 4” offer, guests must book a minimum of five consecutive nights arriving on any day of the week. To avail the “6 nights for the price of 5” offer, guests must book a minimum of six consecutive nights arriving on any day of the week. To avail the “7 nights for the price of 6” offer, guests must book a minimum of Seven consecutive nights arriving on any day of the week. Free night cannot be a Friday or Saturday night. Excludes booking extra charges; Electric hook up, dogs, picnic table hire, additional car, gazebos or event shelters, small childs’ tent and late checkout. The offer is open to all guests. This discount is subject to availability, and we reserve the right to withdraw or extend this offer at any time, without notice, at our sole discretion.   • What is the Doward Park Campsite cancellation policy?

  • What are your payment terms?
    A non-refundable booking deposit of a minimum of £25.00 per pitch is required for 3 night bookings. 2 night bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking. For longer stays a 42% deposit is taken at the time of booking. A minimum deposit for Bank Holidays is £50. All balances are to be paid in full a minimum of 14 days prior to the start of your stay. Minimum booking 2 nights, (3 nights Bank Holiday weekends).
  • What are the Check-in and Check-out times?
    Pitches are available from 2.30pm on the day your holiday commences. Latest arrival time is 7pm. (If you are unavoidably delayed on route please call with your expected arrival time). You must vacate your pitch by 10.30am on the day of departure. A late check-out may be available at the end of your stay (2pm) for a chargeable fee. Please ask for details.
  • Do you take Group Bookings?
    We allow bookings from families and friends of no more than three pitches in total. Groups of more than three couples or three families are not permitted, if we see a group forming, you may be asked to leave and no refund of monies will be paid. We are a family friendly, quiet campsite, were no excessive noise will be accepted. We do not accept stag/hen parties, single sex groups, or groups larger that three pitches
  • Is there a local supermarket?
    We have a well stocked shop on site, however if you need more there is a Budgens mini supermarket at the garage at Whitchurch (A40) selling essentials, Woods of Whitchurch village shop for local produce, or Lidl, Coop and Waitrose in Monmouth (10 mins drive), and Morrisons, Aldi and Sainsbury’s in Ross on Wye (15 mins drive).
  • Do you have a noise policy?
    YES! Please keep noise to a minimum after 10pm, and if rising early remember others may not be such early birds. Young children can be particularly noisy, please try and strike a balance between their enjoyment and that of others. Please keep music to a low level whilst on site (no amplified music), and turned off after 10pm.
  • What is your policy on Day Visitors?

  • Do you allow dogs?
    Yes, we allow well behaved dogs, and ask they are kept on a lead while onsite. We are surrounded by woodland for exercising your dog.
  • Can I have a campfire/fire pit/barbeque at Doward Park Campsite?
    We do not allow ANY campfires or burning of wood on BBQs here. You are camping in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and an ancient forest so we insist on strictly no campfires, and all BBQs MUST be raised off the grass under their own support, or on blocks, available free of charge by the facilities building.
  • Do you have Electric Car Charging Points?
    Sorry, there is no Electric vehicle charging onsite. There is a Fast Charger at The Old Court Hotel in Symonds Yat West, or charging points in Ross-on-Wye or in Monmouth.
  • Are there any pubs or restaurants nearby for an evening meal?
    You can enjoy a walk through the forest to either of the following: Ye Old Ferrie Inn, or The Saracens Head Inn (Symonds Yat East-accessed via hand ferry or Biblins Bridge). Alternatively, they are reached by a short drive around the hill (approx. 10 mins). You have a wide choice of other venues within 15 minutes of Doward Park.
  • How long does it take to walk to Symonds Yat?
    Depending on how much you want to explore on the way, or how quickly you want to walk you can reach Symonds Yat West (and the local pubs) in as little as 25 mins, but for those enjoying a slower paced stroll we would recommend allowing 30-45mins to appreciate the scenery on the way. Just remember, down hill on the way there means uphill on the way back... Ask at reception for directions or a local map.
  • How do I get to King Arthur’s Cave?
    Head out of the campsite gate, turn right onto the tarmac road, head downhill until you see a track to your left, take this, and follow it past the quarry and smaller caves, before reaching King Arthur’s Cave on your left (10 minutes maximum). If you walk up the path behind the cave, keeping left, you will return to the campsite via the public carpark, or take a longer stroll to the Severn Sisters Rock viewpoints for a panoramic view of the River Wye.
  • How do I get to Biblins Bridge (swing bridge)?
    Head out of the campsite, turn left, past the public carpark and green barrier across the track. Follow the forest road downhill for approx. 1 mile until you reach the clearing by the river. You will find Biblins Bridge and the Peregrine Cycle Trail here.
  • Is Doward Park Campsite on the river?
    We are located on top of Great Doward. We are approximately 140m (vertical) above the River Wye. The river is a walk of just under a mile from the site through the forest on footpaths or forest tracks.
  • I have my own Canoe/Paddle board, where are the public launch points?
    Ross on Wye: Landing at ramp on left bank 100m below the Hope and Anchor pub. Wheelchair accessible ramped access. No permission required. Car parking nearby. Kerne Bridge: Landing at steps on left bank 800m below road bridge. Wheelchair accessible ramped access. Picnic site and car park. No permission required. Lower Lydbrook: Landing on left bank at the steps to the picnic site and car park. Launching for individuals but NOT groups. Donations requested in honesty box. Symonds Yat West: Landing and launching from the steps on right bank about 1km upstream of rapids. Car parking. Fee payable. Landing at Ye Olde Ferrie Inne on right bank, permission required (01600 890 232). Symonds Yat East: Landing and launching from the steps on the left bank at the Wyedean Canoe Centre (01600 890 129). Fee payable. Car parking. Monmouth: Landing at second set of steps on right immediately downstream of rowing club, by car park. No permission required. Brockweir: Restored stone landing on left bank just upstream of bridge. Awkward and muddy at low tide. No permission required. Very limited car parking in village. From this point, the river should only be used by experienced canoeists. No landing site at Tintern.
