We've had a great start to the 2025 season here at Doward Park Campsite. The weather has been hot and sunny which has made for a lot of happy campers! As always it's been great to welcome lots of new campers as well as many returning guests.


Spring Flowers on the Doward
April/May are amazing months to visit us here at Doward Park Campsite. The woodland surrounding the site is covered with blue and white as the bluebells, wild garlic and other spring flowers take over the Doward, and the greenery of the trees return. There are so many walks leaving the campsite to enjoy; roam the nature reserves, explore King Arthurs cave, soak in the views from Seven Sisters viewpoint or stroll along the river to one of the local pubs. Our Adventure Playground!
The Adventure Playground at Doward Park Campsite is a safe, woodland‑themed play area designed for young children to explore, climb and enjoy during their stay. It’s located right on the campsite, close to the facilities, and offers a relaxed, natural space for families to unwind. All Aboard The Perrygrove Railway!
A great day out for young children is a visit to the Perrygrove Railway Adventure. A return journey takes 30 minutes and you can hop on and off at the various stations to enjoy the different play areas. There is a treetop adventure area, Twilight Village - 5 houses connected by secret passageways - and an adventure playground. There is also a cafe and woodland walks. Monmouth Leisure Centre
Perfect for a rainy day! 10 minutes drive away or just over an hours walk along the river in the market town of Monmouth is a great leisure centre with plenty to offer for everyone. There is a 25m swimming pool, spa facilities, squash courts, multi use outdoor courts, and various gym facilities. Also for the children there is a 3 storey children’s soft play area. Flora & Fauna of the Doward
We are lucky to have such a large amount of flora & fauna in our local woodland on the Doward. Whilst relaxing on the campsite you can spot squirrels, woodpeckers, robins, jays, deer and more. In the woodlands we have foxes, badgers, and a number of rare species such as the grizzled skipper butterfly and if you are lucky whilst walking the nature reserves at night you may spot a glow worm! Butterfly Zoo & Maze
The butterfly zoo and maze are great for the kids and a good wet weather activity! You can witness their life cycle, from egg to caterpillar and from chrysalis to butterfly. Walking around surrounded by exotic butterflies is sure to keep the kids mesmerized! The traditional hedge maze and a 12 hole miniature golf course allow you to make a day of it. Climb A Mountain!
Just a short hop over the border to Wales and you have an excellent choice of mountains to climb! There's no better view from the top of a mountain; here are some of our favourites: Sugar Loaf Standing at 596m and offering panoramic views over south Wales and south-west England, Sugar Loaf is one of our favourite mountains to climb. Discover the secret world beneath the forest at Clearwell Caves
Descend 100ft underground and explore the 9 caverns of Clearwell Caves, including an underground pool featuring fossils over 300 million years old! The trip is self-guided and takes about an hour. Head Underground At The Big Pit National Coal Museum
About a 40 minute drive away in the Big Pit National Coal Museum. This place is a real coal mine and one of Britain's leading mining museums. A trip takes you 300 feet underground to learn what life was like for the thousands of miners working there; followed by a very informative museum. This is a great rainy day activity!
