For history buffs, 20 minutes from the campsite is the small village of Trellech. Here you can step back in time to the bronze age at Harold Stones, where the village gets its name from. You can carry on to the Virtuous Well which was once known for its ability to cure people and received pilgrims as late as the 17th century. There is also the Trellech Tump, a site which used to house a castle in the 13th century. Also in the village you can stop off for a drink and a bite to eat at the Lions Inn pub and take a look around the 14th century church.
