Just a short hop over the border to Wales and you have an excellent choice of peaks to climb! There's no better view from the top of a mountain; here are some of our favourites: Sugar Loaf Standing at 596m and offering panoramic views over south Wales and south-west England, Sugar Loaf is one of our favourite mountains to climb. It is a 40 minute drive from the campsite and takes around 2.5 hours.
Skirrid From the top of Skirrid you can see Herefordshire, the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, the Usk Valley, Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean! The path winds through the woods, along the ridge and up to the summit. The walk takes about 2 hours and is about 30 minutes away.
Pen-Y-Fan At 886m, Pen-Y-Fan is a bit more strenuous but well worth the effort! If you are feeling extra energetic you can make a loop taking in several other peaks. It is one of the most popular peaks and you can reach the it from several different routes. You can find information of the different approaches here; all of which are roughly an hour away.
